In which Jim dusts off his social butterfly wings.

Creating truly engaging social content is like binge drinking. Everyone thinks they can handle it but it mostly ends with shame and embarrassment over what you said last night. But off the back of the successful footballing social campaigns I did for Virgin Media, I was invited back to add the same magic touch to the everyday social posts from the entertainment brand...

In which Jim takes off and encounters some turbulence.

I had to write countless posts, around the likes of VFEST, Mr. Robot and The Walking Dead. But the hardest part? They had to actually be entertaining, with a dash of Virgin Media wit in each post. Luckily, I was already familiar with VM's tone. Although to write the best posts, I did have to do lots of research into the subject I was writing about and what kinds of posts have engaged followers in the past.

Project Notes

Want to know more?

  • Separate post copy was written for Twitter and Facebook to reflect the differences in the platforms.
  • I constantly monitored, analysed and improved upon engagement results.
  • At weekly meetings, we'd discuss what posts and content needed to be created that week. But not everything was pre-planned.
  • Some reactive social content was produced based on the announcements of new TV seasons and the like.
  • Each week saw a host of new movies released on Virgin Media. Each one to be promoted on social media
  • I was also involved in developing creative campaign ideas to run alongside the new season of The Walking Dead.
